The Viral Informatics Resource for Metagenome Exploration (VIROME) is based at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute of the University of Delaware. The website is hosted at the Institute of Genome Science (University of Maryland School of Medicine) as part of the National Science Foundation supported Data Intensive Academic Grid (DIAG) project. Ongoing development to deploy VIROME as a free metagenomic analysis tool, is being conducted in collaboration with members of the Community Cyberinfrastructure for Advanced Microbial Ecology Research and Analysis (CAMERA) project at the University of California San Diego with generous funding provided by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. Additional support has come from the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Agriculture Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Service National Research Initiative, and an NSF-EPSCoR partnership grant.
